We process information as a controller for the limited purposes described here, including operating anonymous rating links, displaying scores and comments, moderating content, preventing abuse, enabling paid features, and complying with law. Depending on your location, this policy is intended to align with privacy laws including the UAE Personal Data Protection Law, the GDPR, India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, and the California Consumer Privacy Act and California Privacy Rights Act where applicable.

If you do not agree with this policy, please do not access the application or use its services. This policy does not govern the privacy practices of third-party app stores, marketplaces, payment processors, or other external services; those parties apply their own terms and privacy notices.

1. Information you provide directly

  • Username you choose, including a system-adjusted variation if the handle is already taken.
  • Age confirmation used only to verify that you are 18 or older.
  • Selected rating category, including custom categories created by paid users and filtered for safety.
  • Optional support requests, feedback, or other communications you send to us.

2. Information processed when ratings are submitted

  • Rating value and optional short comment.
  • A technical device identifier used only to help prevent duplicate submissions to the same link.
  • Public comments and ratings submitted through your shareable link are user-generated content from third parties.

3. Automatically generated and technical data

  • Anonymous UUIDs for authentication, link IDs for rating sessions, and limited metadata needed for service stability, security, and abuse prevention.
  • Usage data such as IP address, browser type, browser version, app version, timestamps, page visits, time spent, and diagnostic logs.
  • Derivative event data such as generating or revoking a public link, visiting a rating page, submitting or viewing ratings, toggling settings such as Bayesian smoothing, generating a final card, and other navigation actions.
  • Device information such as device ID, model, manufacturer, operating system version, country, approximate location derived from technical signals, and similar diagnostics where available.

How We Use Information

Sharing Your Information

Ratings and Bayesian Smoothing

  • Rate Me may apply optional Bayesian smoothing when calculating final scores.
  • If smoothing is disabled, the final score is a simple arithmetic average.
  • As the number of ratings increases, the smoothing effect decreases.
  • A minimum final rating threshold may be used to reduce abusive outcomes.
  • This affects score presentation only and does not require extra personal data.

Comment Moderation and Automation

  • Comments may be screened using AI or machine-learning moderation tools before publication or display.
  • Comments identified as harmful, abusive, or policy-violating may be flagged or hidden.
  • Automated screening is used only for moderation and user-safety purposes.
  • This screening does not create legal or similarly significant effects, and human review may be requested through support.

Billing and Payments

Payments made within the application are processed through Apple's in-app purchase mechanisms. We do not directly collect, process, or store debit card, credit card, or other payment credentials used for those purchases.

If other payment methods are introduced later, they will be disclosed in the app and governed by the applicable payment provider's own terms and privacy policy.

Security Measures

We use organizational and technical safeguards, including secure hosting, access controls, least-privilege practices, staff training, encryption in transit, and regular security review processes.

No transmission or storage method is completely secure. If a security incident occurs, we will follow applicable notification requirements.
